This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, your browser connects to GitHub's servers. GitHub processes technical data in the process, in particular your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested and information your browser sends (such as browser type and operating system). GitHub uses this data to deliver the website and to keep the service secure. I have no access to these server logs and cannot link them to you.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR: my legitimate interest in making this website available reliably and securely. GitHub may process the data in the United States. GitHub states that it is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Details are in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
Fonts and other resources
Fonts, images and scripts are served from this website itself. No requests are made to Google Fonts or other external providers when you view the pages.
Contact by email
If you write to me by email, I process your email address and the content of your message to answer you. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries) or Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if your message relates to a contract. I delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed, unless the law requires me to keep it.
My mailbox is hosted with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online), provided by Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, D18 P521, Ireland. Microsoft processes the emails on my behalf as a processor under its Data Protection Addendum (Art. 28 GDPR). As my account is registered in Austria, it falls under Microsoft's EU Data Boundary: the emails are stored and processed in data centres in the EU and EFTA. Microsoft describes limited cases in which data may still be transferred outside this boundary, for example for security purposes. Details are in Microsoft's EU Data Boundary documentation and the Data Protection Addendum.
Links to other websites
This website links to external sites such as LinkedIn and GitHub. Data is only sent to them once you follow a link. Their own privacy policies then apply.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and the right to object to processing that is based on legitimate interests. To use these rights, write to michael@steinmoetzger.dev.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at.
